Worried about seeing a financial planner?
Many people have told us that contacting a financial planner can be a worrisome exercise :
- how much will it cost?
- Will they have my best interests at heart?
- What aren’t they telling me about their particular bias, and just what they get out of it?
This feeling has been made all the stronger by the news and media sensationalism of all things financial, as well as the very expensive and all-encompassing advertising campaigns of various pressure or advocate groups over the last few years.
Some of these concerns are legitimate – it is your money after all, and you want to make sure that every dollar spent achieves its maximum value. However, a lot of the worry is ill-founded, and born of various forms of bias or just marketing hype. Our business has been in the financial planning business for many years, and we are fortunate to have a large and loyal base of clients who turn to us for advice or help on financial matters. Financial planning today covers a wide range of topics, so it’s quite likely that we can help in areas that you may not have expected.
Why should I deal with Streamline Financial Planning?
Through its businesses Streamline Financial Planning and Wealth & Security Planners, WSP Pty Ltd helps over 2,000 clients holding over 11,000 individual client accounts in a wide range of banks, insurance companies, investment and superannuation funds. Many of these financial planning relationships extend over 20 or even 30 years, and we now help the children or even grandchildren of those early clients, as they set out to achieve their own financial aspirations.

Streamline Financial Planning advisers will take the time to explain what we can and cannot do for you, and what costs you can expect to pay for various options. They will answer any questions you have on our business and the services we offer.
It will often help if you have already been thinking about just what you want to achieve. In fact, do so can be of enormous assistance in making the best of your initial interview with our advisers and staff. Some people find it helpful to write down an overview of their financial position. Bringing that overview to your first interview can help keep you on track for covering all the points you want to, as well as allowing your adviser a quick look at the circumstances surrounding your financial wants and objectives.
If this is still a worry then please just make a time to sit down with an adviser, and tell us what is on your mind. There is no obligation for a first appointment, and we can usually clarify things quite simply through discussion. In our experience, a little bit of give and take is what makes for better communication and better outcomes.
That’s our opinion. Now it’s your turn. Call Tania and start working out your financial plans today.
